Ingredients for Poached Chicken
- Chicken: 400 Grams
- Water: 500 Milileter
- Garlic: 40 Grams
- Clove: 5 Pices
- Ginger: 40 Grams
- Bay Leaves: 4 Pieces
- Salt: 1 Teaspoon
- Carrot: 10 Grams (chopped into small pices)
- Coriander Leaves: 3/4 Pieces
How to Make Poached Chicken
The dish is made without the use of any spices besides salt so naturally, it’s not a spicy one. Instead of spices, the flavor of this dish comes from the herbs and the liquid. Along with this, since you will need to slow cook this dish, the final product will be tender and easy to eat.
Total Time: 40 minutes
Step 1: Poach the Chicken
– Grab a large pot
– Put the water in the pot
– Add in Garlic, Cloves, Ginger, bay leaves, and Salt
– Let the water boil
– Add in the chicken
– Simmer for 40 minutes
Step 2: Filter and Serve
– Take the chicken out
– Filter out the herbs
– Garnish with chopped carrots and Coriander Leaves
– Serve on a hot plate
Side Note* it is better to use stock than water for poaching as it increases the nutrient value as well as enhances the taste of this simple dish.
The stock liquid is prepared by boiling chopped bones or vegetables with aromatic and flavourful herbs in water. The boiling can last from a few hours to a day depending type of stock.
