As such, you are able to share your thoughts along with a picture or a video. Instagram limits the length of videos that you can share to 60 seconds, but you can still post them. Due to its ownership by Facebook and popularity, you might assume they operate similarly.

Why can’t you download videos and photos from Instagram?

While we understand that we cannot download videos and images from Instagram, it doesn’t prevent us from wanting to do it. This is not helped by the fact that some of the best images appear on Instagram – whether be it gorgeous celebrities or breathtaking scenarios.

But that being said, How do you download videos and images from Instagram?

Well there are two methods that you can use to download photos and videos from Instagram

Now one thing that you have to keep in mind while downloading videos or photos from Instagram is that you will be using third-party websites and add-ons to do these tasks. So although you are allowed to download using these third-party sides, it is not authorized by Instagram. With this being said, let’s move on to see how to do the actual downloading.

Download Videos and Photos from Instagram Stories

Instagram stories are Photos or Videos that are shot in “Portrait Mode” or Vertically that disappears 24 Hours after posting. These posts usually are not the major kinds of posts on Instagram but rather updates, instant news, or short daily uploads that don’t serve much for the Instagram account.

Along with this, the videos that are posted on Instagram Stories have a maximum length of only 15 seconds. So now you get why we said that these are not the major posts of the Instagram account?

This is probably the reliable option to download stories. To use the third-party sites all you need to do is:

Copy the link of the Story
Open up a story saver website
Paste the link of the story on the website

Paste the Instagram Handle
Click on Download.

There are quite a few websites that let you download videos and images from Instagram Stories. Some of them are:

Now while pasting the link of the story is more of a straightforward method, it only lets you save that single story. On the other hand, if you use a site that asks for the Instagram handle, then you will get the option to not only download the photos and videos on their current story also their “highlights” which can be called “Story Archives”.

These are the stories that the users have archived and can still be seen after they cross the 24-hour mark.

Using add-ons

This method is a bit quicker and depending on situations even more useful than the one using links/handles. In this method, all you have to do is install an add-on to your browser and you will be able to download the video or photo on the Instagram story quickly.

These addons are usually on the browser Hotbar. To download videos and photos from Instagram stories using addons you have to:

This is the simpler one of the two. An Instagram post is any photo or video that the user shares on their profile. Now to download videos and photos from Instagram posts, you can follow the same two methods as mentioned i.e using Addons and websites. But that being said, the number of addons available for downloading posts is rather limited.

The drawback of downloading videos and images from Instagram posts using addons is further amplified with the lack of options. In this case, downloading these using a third-party site is a more reliable option. To download using the websites, all you have to do is:

One final thing that you have to note is that you won’t be able to download every video and photo from Instagram. If the user has kept the setting of the post private, you won’t be able t download video or photos using any means.
