World After Pandemic: Pros & Cons of Pandemic for Future World
Many of us are worried about COVID 19. People suffering from this disease are thinking of how to get recovered soon, and those who are not suffered yet are thinking of how to save themselves from this dangerous pandemic. However, with these two problems, there are many additional problems yet to come in the future so we must prepare ourselves to face them strongly and solve them wisely.
Due to COVID 19, the world economy has highly effected. Till now, hundred of thousands of people have died where millions of people are getting unemployed, thousands of industries and startup companies are getting shut down, schools are closed and children are learning from home, and other businesses from gym halls, theaters, malls, parks are also closed.
With all these present situations, what we can predict about future is if we don’t prepare ourselves, then our future will be much tougher, instead, we can take COVID 19 as a lesson learned so far and turn this problem into an opportunity to make our future much brighter than today.
Here are the few points on which the COVID 19 can bring change in the future world and even in present condition:
1. Earth is Healing
Since the factories and industries, transportations, mining operations, burning of fossil fuels are very minimalistic due to lockdown, the earth is healing day by day. There is a positive effect on global warming, acid rain, wildlife, the ozone layer, conservation of energy, etc. Because harmful gases like nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides are not released these days thus the air is not as pollutant as it used to be. Even the ozone layer is not depleting as it used to deplete due to the high presence of chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, and it is very less in the atmosphere. Therefore, the air quality index of the world has decreased to an all-time low in a decade and has led to mother nature heal in its own way.
2. Impact on E-commerce Business:
With countries on lockdown and social distancing norms in place, people are preferring online purchases and traditional businesses are converting themselves online. Thus, coronavirus is causing a huge shift in consumer shopping behavior, as well as the way we live our lives and in the long run, e-commerce is expected to benefit from this.
3. Improvement in Logistic System:
Due to pandemic, consumers are buying in panic and that has caused many problems from supply chain issues, product shortages, and lack of delivery personnel, which has caused difficulty to deliver orders. Hence, this present problem of delivering orders will be improved in the long term.
4. Improvement in the Health Sector:
COVID 19 has taught us the actual meaning of “Health is Wealth”. Thus, the primary beneficiary of this pandemic would be the healthcare sector- hospitals, pharmacies, medicine manufacturers, and even insurance companies. Developing countries like Nepal, India, Pakistan, Srilanka, etc. are forced to develop hospitals and other infrastructures from adding ventilators, ICU, and many more to put patients in quarantine and cure the corona patients. Whereas developed countries are upgrading their health sector.
5. Enhancement in Online Education Practice:
Learning is a life long process and it should not be stopped for any reason. Thus, people have seen the online study as the best way of sharing and acquiring knowledge in this lockdown which will get its continuity in the long term. Online teaching was only about 5% of the total teaching system earlier and has now become the major mode of the teaching-learning system. Additionally, this will definitely filter out the old and outdated education system and will have a change and shift in education technology worldwide.
6. Development and Growth in the Agriculture Industry:
For the survival of living beings, food is very essential. However, it’s one of the least thought of ventures. However, the pandemic has made people realized its importance and necessity for not only the developing countries but even the developed countries. Therefore, businesses involved in agriculture whether directly or indirectly will definitely check and grow their process along with new entrepreneurs, and businessmen will join the agriculture industry.
7. People will be more Conscious about Hygiene and Cleanliness:
COVID 19 has definitely made people aware of their personal hygiene and cleanliness. Washing hands with soap and water inside the home and use of sanitizers and masks outside the home will be part of our lifestyle. Also, people will limit their associations with people and greetings that they are used to, like hugging, handshaking, cheek to cheek touching, etc. Therefore, it would change us a lot.
8. Effect on Luxurious Goods
People are more focused on fulfilling their basic needs and saving money for financial security in the future. Thus, luxurious products like automobiles, golds, houses, bags, watches, shoes, and many other luxury goods are not being the first priority of people. Since pandemic has taught people the lesson of life and death, so people will probably have less importance to these products than they used to give in the future. That’s why the demand may touch an all-time low during this recession period.
9. Work from Home Trend can be Long-Lasting Trend:
Work from home was never our culture and it was always looked down upon but this pandemic has made us understood that work from home is also possible. Many companies are doing it and they are actually giving outputs. Thus, this could be a big step in how we look at work in the coming few years.
10. Tourism Industry Worldwide will be Highly Affected:
Due to lockdown people aren’t allowed to travel which has highly affected in aviation industries as the flights are canceled. Similarly with hotel industries as no booking of the hotel are done due to lockdown. Along with travel and visa service agencies, online air/bus/train booking sites are also getting jobless. This could lead to a massive fall in economic activity. As everyone is aware of invisible germs so there are no chances of departures nor arrivals in most tourist places for a long period of time because if traveling has the potential to kill you & at best make you extremely sick, who is going to take the risk?
