Tips for Traveling Around Nepal
Nepal, also known as the Himalayan kingdom, is a small yet beautiful country sitting in the lap of Himalaya. More and more tourists who love nature and Himalayas love to spend their time in this beautiful and exciting country. But must tourists may feel wary and doubtful of visiting a new country they haven’t been to before. Because they are unaware of language, rules, traditions. So, we have prepared a few Tips for Traveling Around Nepal.
1. Avoid Solo Trek to High Altitude Himalayas
If you are willing to travel safely then hire experienced guides while you are in the high altitude Himalayas. Mountains are beautiful to see yet dangerous so always make sure you are accompanied by a guide while going to trek. There are many cases of accident and tourist gone missing in high altitude while you are traveling solo. Especially, that tourist who is not so experienced in trekking needs the help of a guide because you may suffer from much dangerous think like altitude sickness, animal attack, and more.
2. Avoid Travelling during Monsoon Season
Nepal is suitable to visit in monsoon (July to August) in some parts like Dolpo, Mustang, and city tours. As the part of Nepal is covered mostly with mountains and hills so it’s vulnerable to travel most of the hilly parts during Monsoon season. Mainly, traveling to mountain roads is adventurous because of landslides that result to block or wash away the road.
3. Choose a tourist bus rather than the local one
If you have an option between the local bus and tourist bus then choose a tourist bus because of luxury travel. They are significantly more comfortable and not so overcrowded inside the bus. The tourist bus is generally safe than the local one because somehow the driver will be better.
4. Beware of Money scamming Taxi Drivers
When you are using the Taxi around the city area always be aware and make sure the driver charges according to the meter. As they see the tourist they may charge a high amount than the actual rate. Mostly, do not travel in Taxi after 10 PM, because they take twice of meter cost normally in Nepal both for local people and tourists too.
5. Always Get Vaccinated
If you are traveling abroad for travel then it is recommended to take the required vaccine. It is always to take precaution before and consult a doctor before you are traveling. Some common vaccination includes Diphtheria, Tetanus, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, and Polio. You need to be especially safe when children are with you.
6. Leave buffer days while doing mountain flights.
If you are planning to trek to high latitude and attending the domestic flight then there will be frequent delays or canceled. Those small airports with small airstrips between hills may have frequent bad weather or poor visibility so it is inconvenient to take a flight. If you are in a tight schedule then we don’t recommend you to attend such domestic flight. Always leave a spare day when you are planning to go to such a place.
7. Carry a Universal Adapter
The worst thing for any trekkers who are stuck without the battery in their electronic device because of the right kind of plug. So it is useful to carry the universal adapter mainly while you are doing the teahouse trek. Nepal uses 220 V plugs, and you can easily find it in any electronic store.
