“Dil Bechara” is like Bechara if Sushant is Removed!!

When someone dies, the hope of living with him also dies (Jab koi mar jaata hai, toh uske saath jeene ki umeed bhi mar jaati hai), Dil Bechara, the last movie of Late Sushant Singh Rajput is more like feeling and memories rather than a movie. Because while watching the movie, you can not separate the real from the reel and I don’t think there’s anyone who didn’t drop tears. Storyline

Well, talking about the movie “Dil Bechara”, it is the remake of the 2014 Hollywood movie “The Fault in our Stars” which was based on the novel written in 2012 by John Green with the same name. It is the love story of Kizzi Basu (Played by Sanjana Sanghi) and Immanuel Rajkumar Junior aka Manny (Played by Sushant Singh Rajput), two young people fighting a different type of Cancer where Kizzi Basu is a lung cancer patient living with an oxygen cylinder as a constant companion and Manny is a rich kid, a diehard fan of Rajnikanth, who is very jolly, carefree and popular but lost a leg to cancer. This extraordinary love story of an ordinary couple explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic journey of love, life, and death.

Differences Between “The Fault in our Stars” and “Dil Bechara”

Though it is the remake, there are many differences between Dil Bechara and The Fault in our stars. Such as The first meeting of Hazel and Augustus was at a support group meeting, but Kizzie and Manny met at college. In The Fault In Our Stars, Hazel is obsessed with a novel, “An Imperial Infliction” and wants to meet the author to ask about what happens to the character of the book as it was ended on mid-sentence and later she met him at Amsterdam. Whereas Kizzie is obsessed with an incomplete album of Abhimanyu Veer and she met him in Paris. In Dil Bechara, Manny’s friend JP expresses a desire to make a film before he loses his eyesight due to his cancer so, both Manny and Kizze help him complete the film even after JP lost his eyesight. But in “The Fault in Our Stars”, Augustus Friend is shown to be a gamer and has no desire of making a film.

Sushant is the Dil (Heart) of “Dil Bechara”

As a debut in the lead character, Sanjana has done an impressive job and she looks so adorable. She was before seen as the younger sister of Nargis Fakhri’s character in Rockstar). However “Dil Bechara” only remains “Bechara” if you remove Sushant from the movie as he is the Dil (heart) of the movie. Because we somehow compare this movie with the original one “The Fault in our Stars” because it lacks a lot in comparison to the original one from its character development, storytelling, writing, direction. But watching a decently average movie is not disappointing. It is like the Indian version of “The Fault in our Stars” with Bollywood Tadka from music, dialogue, and conservative Indian Parents where Kizzi’s mother wanted to preserve her child’s hymen despite knowing that her lungs are giving way and life itself may leave her any moment. Later, the same mother teases her and her boyfriend “Manny” to admit that they slept together. There is no character development, the scene is thrown in there anyway. Just like that. So knowing the potential of the source material and still getting an average movie is heartbreaking. And of course, Sushant deserves a better movie than “Dil Bechara”.

Where to watch “Dil Bechara”?

The film was supposed to be released on the theater but due to COVID 19 and after the demise of Sushant, Fox star studios released it on free at Disney plus Hotstar, so if you have not watched it, you can watch there.

Conclusion

If you are a fan of SSR then you should definitely watch “Dil Bechara” as it’s his last movie and his killing smile is like treat to your eyes. And am sure you will definitely cry like a baby to hear the words of life and death from Sushant’s voiceover: “Janam kab lena hai aur marna kab hai..Yeh hum decide nahi karte….Par jeena kaise hai…Woh hum decide kar sakte hai” (“We don’t get to decide when we’re born or when we die. But we do get to decide how we live our lives”).
