4 Top Things to do in Syangja District
Syangja District covers the area of 1,164 square kilometers with Syangja Bazaar as its district headquarter. It lies in the hilly region with an altitude ranging from about 300 meters along the bank of Kaligandaki River to the highest about 2,000 meters.
Like other districts, Syangja is also blessed with diverse natural beauty. Despite being the blend of nature, culture, and religion, Syangja district is not so much famous as a tourist destination. The major ethnic group lives in Syangja are Brahmin, Chhetri, Gurung, and Magar.
After the construction of the Siddhartha Highway, Syangja district is connected with two beautiful cities, Pokhara and Butwal. The highway enters this district in Noeht from Kubinde and leaves Ramdi of Palpa to the south. Putalibazar of Syangja is about 37 km far from Pokhara, 127 from Butwal, and 238 km from the Kathmandu.
1. Visit Chhangchhangdi Temple
Going north from the Sunauli border crossing Pokhara and crossing the mountains of Syangja takes you to this temple. If you are planning to go to Syangja, there is no better place to start than at the holy Chhangchhangdi temple. Whenever there is any festival or other occasion you can see the glimmering banners, brightly painted archway, and crowds of people in the temple.
This temple comes alive during Shrawan, which is known as Shiva’s favorite month. During the Shawna Monday, also known as “Saune Sombar”. On this day, you will find people all over the temple. This temple is so famous in the month of Shrawan because it is connected to a story involving Shiva and Sati. It is believed that Sati’s last remaining of her body fell to the ground the place which is now a Chhangchhangdi temple. Shiva created a waterfall there as now the location of the temple.
2. Ramkot Homestay
Ramkot Homestay was introduced in 2017 to increase both national and international tourists to Ramkot village of Syangja district. Ramkot village is located at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. Visitors can enjoy the panoramic view of Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Lamjung peaks. From Kubinde it takes only 40 minutes to walk and by car 10 minutes and 17 km from Syangja. You will get a chance to immerse yourself with the local people while you are in the homestay. Some foreign tourists also choose to cook themselves and enjoy the local culture from near. The tourist can visit the village throughout the year. However, if you are willing to see nature and the Himalayas then you can visit there in October to late April.
