4 Best Places to Visit in Humla District

Humla district covered the area of 5,655 km2 with Simikot as the district headquarter. This is also a remote district and has low contact with the capital city. This district is still unexplored and you will meet few tourists stepping towards Mount Kailash Tibet.

As you go further toward Humla, the landscape becomes drier, with incredible red rockscapes and medieval stone villages. How to Reach Humla District

By Bus

From Kathmandu bus park you can take a bus to Nepalgunj. From the road, it takes a long hour of drive which takes about 12 to 13 hours. The night bus may be comfortable because there will be no traffic and dust but you cannot enjoy nature. After long hours of drive to Nepalgunj change the vehicle to Humla.

By Air

This is the most comfortable yet most expensive way to travel by air. From Kathmandu, you have to fly to Nepalgunj which takes about 50 minutes from the flight. From there you have to take another flight to Simikot.

There is another way to reach Humla by Surkhet. You can go by bus which takes you to Surkhet and then catch a flight to Simikot. From Surkhet the flight is done according to the weather.

1. Nara La Pass

Nara La Pass is located at a height of 4620 meters above sea level. You will be amazed to see the landscapes and impressive house. It will be interesting to trek along Yak tracks and watching the beautiful Himalayas peeking at us. As you reach Nara La Pass through the caravan of yaks, you can see Tibet and an impressive view of the Himalayas.

2. Chyakpalung

Chyakpalung is located in the Upper part of Humla. The grassy and flatlands of Chyakpalung and amazing Himalayan views will attract the trekkers. There was a survey in 2013, and researchers found several rare animals in the area.

3. Tso Lamgyok

Tso Lamgyok is located in the Upper Humla district of Nepal. The main attraction here is the Himalayan lakes. The lake is located within the Gyau valley in the south-west corner of the Tibetan Plateau. This bowl-shaped freshwater lake is very pristine until it gets freeze during the winter season.
