CG Net Review: Plan, Packages, Offer, Price
One of the greatest conglomerates of Nepal, the Chaudhary Group has introduced its market presence in the current ISP (Internet Service Providers) market with its brand CG Net. Though Wikipedia has listed some 30 ISP’s in Nepal, the latest Nepal Telecommunications Authority data suggests that a total of 18 being registered.
Refer to the image below where you can see the name of CG Communications Ltd as the registered body at the end of the list.
Let alone the numbers of ISP’s, very few are competitive in the market and mostly centered in the urban areas. Not to mention the competition is real and strong for market dominance.
In such a competitive arena that has entered a new player; CG Net is an internet service provider with the most lucrative internet plans for both individuals and businesses.
The company has placed itself in the market being “Speed” as its core USP (Unique Selling Proposition) which manifests in the promotional campaigns of the company; “Speed Matters”. Along with the internet speed, the company has also optimized the pricing which is consists of a lucrative package than any existing service provider.
Now, as time will tell if the prominence of CG Net will out shadow the current ISP market, but there are some of the bases which could suggest that CG could become a dominant market player.
So, without wasting any time, let’s give a sneak peek at the competency of CG Net.
Speed
Well, this is a pretty exciting one. Let’s talk about whooping 120 Mbps of internet speed. And the most interesting part is, this is the base ‘Introductory Offer’ provided by CG Net. Wait, What? And wait for it, the base cost is Rs. 999 a month. Seems like CG is consistently claiming that unmatched ‘Internet Speed’ is their core competency.
Cost
Could the speed and cost be optimized any more than this? Wonder and Doubt! Enough with the cliffhanger, just look at the packages offered by CG Net in the table below.

Fair Usage Policy
Unlike any other ISP’s in the market, the CG Net has streamlined and specific FUP (Fair Usage Policy). For instance, the company has clearly stated the usage limit and any throttling limit in internet speed if a certain threshold exceeds. And upon close examination of other competitive ISP’s in the market either the FUP is too vague or too limited.
FUP Level | Data Usage Quota | FUP Speed Policy |
---|---|---|
Original Data Bandwidth | Data Consumption to 1900 GB | 120 MBPS Original Speed |
Level 1 | Data Consumption 1900-2000 GB | 50% of original |
Level 2 | Data Consumption2000-2100 GB | 30% of original |
Level 3 | Data Consumption More than 2100 GB | 10% of original |
Further, the base limit of 1900 GB with uninterrupted and consistent internet speed is one hell of a package that is unmatched.
Add On Perks
The CG Net seems to have played it pretty smoothly. Consider the most optimized package in terms of cost and internet speed and on top of it add minimum service of free installation and drop wire charge across all the packages.
For instance, the minimum cost package is Rs .999 a month for 120 Mbps, which includes the free installation and drop wire charges, and if you are a premium user with the most expensive package of Rs. 11,988, on top you will get free Single Band Router and Duble Band Router including previous perks.
Finally, the emergence of CG Net seems really strong and has challenged the status quo of market competency in regards to cost and broadband internet speed. The larger question before us all while weighing on the market dominance of CG Net is, can it pool the already set customer base of prominent ISP’s like WorldLink, Vianet, and NTC ADSL? and will it be able to deliver the services as promised?
Only time will tell if the emergence of CG Net is a revolutionary paradigm in the ISP spectrum or it is merely a far-fetched proposition.
