Why Breaking Bad Is So Overrated? Is It Worth Watching??

Breaking bad is the highest-rated show up to now. Its greatness is massively exaggerated and people never shut up about it. Because it’s so overplayed and overhyped and spoken about with such absolute reverence, it’s almost considered cultural treason to say that Breaking Bad isn’t perfect.

Breaking Bad is an American neo-Western crime drama television series. It was aired from 20th January 2008 till 29th September 2013. It is the is number 1 series because of its solid in every aspect: the writing, the direction, the acting, the cinematography, everything. At first, you would think of another story with a good guy and a bad guy. But trust me it’s a complete show which is unpredictable with a lot of twists. They did not drag it either. It stays in your head for quite long.

Storyline:

The story is about Walter White (the main character) played by Bryan Cranston. He is a chemistry teacher who is suffering from cancer and he doesn’t have anything which he can do to support his family after he dies. Then comes a twist when he sees his old student (Jessie Pinkman) who deals with drugs. An idea pops out of his head that let’s make drugs where he earns unimaginable money. This sounds ridiculously filmy, but the immense knowledge about the chemistry that Walter has is outstandingly amended. It showcases the real happenings in the drug business, nothing is unrealistic. From making meth to selling, from facing real-life problems to overcoming it. You will get the meaning of logic in this tv series.

Casting:

Breaking Bad has the right casting for right character. Be it Walter White, Jessie, or Skyler, you keep thinking about it. We see the roller coaster ride of Walter and the emotional turmoil Jesse goes through. Even the smaller roles like Badger and Skinny Pete look exactly right for Burqueño low-lives are so important characters. Wendy, Jesse’s prostitute friend is so perfect for the particular kind of streetwalker you’d see for real on Albuquerque’s Central Ave.

Cinematography and editing:

The visual and looks of Breaking Bad is so unique and perfect than anything else on TV. Because of its unique camera work, lights, and coloring. Editing is to the point, as there is no unnecessary extension. The story appeals more to you, but cleverly they have made just 5 seasons.

Location:

The production design for interior settings is top-notch as well. They built a perfectly bureaucratic DEA office. Walt lives in a very 70’s-looking home appropriate to his socioeconomic status. Everything conveys the right feelings. The level of care and detail on this show is unique. 

Background Score:

Though this isn’t a huge parameter for a TV series, yet missing the background score here would be stupidity. All throughout the series, the background scores have been executed and placed brilliantly.

Moral:

Crime pays but it isn’t worth it. Actions bring consequences so be prepared to deal with that.

Breaking Bad is slow throughout but as many answers here have already mentioned, it has some of the most amazing episodes starting from season 3. Give it time. You’ll love it.
