Let’s start with the basics, What is Teej?

Teej is the most important festival for women in Nepal where they fast to pray Lord Shiva for the long life of their husbands/partners. Women make their men feel special on this day for their bond to grow stronger. Now fasting is not an easy process – despite this on the day of Teej, women all over Nepal do it for their husbands or future husbands.

Since she puts so much effort into this, you should do some special stuff as well to make her day special and memorable. Making her feel great is not a cake-walk but tips below might just smoothen it for you:

1. Gift her a Teej Kit

Teej is a special occasion for women. So you can gift her a Teej kit that contains Cosmetics, Mehendi, Bangles, Necklaces, dry fruits, etc. These things will come in handy in her preparation for the festival and will likely need them for the festival. 3. Help in organizing Teej Dar

Dar and Teej are two words for the same festival- well almost. Every woman loves to celebrate Dar and would love to have a small gathering of her loved ones. Why not take the responsibility of organizing most of the event on your own so that she can just chill out for the evening, carefree without having to bother about preparation and cleaning the after-mess?

4. Join the fast if your stamina allows you

It is not a cakewalk to water fast for 24 long hours for most of the women. She expects her man to realize her hardship. You can join the fast too along with her if possible. Trust me, This will overwhelm her knowing that you too pray for her longevity as much as she does. Besides, one of the best ways to make her feel special is to share her burden or at least- feel her burden. This will bond the two of you even more as both of you face the same difficulty together.

Women love jewelry. Regardless of how tomboyish they may be, they love them – especially if it’s a gift from her man. For her jewelry is not just an ornament. it’s your symbol of love. You can give her something as simple as an Earring, Ring, Bangles, Nose pins or you can also gift them gold or diamond wares if your pocket allows it. 7. Drop her to Maiti

It is a kind of tradition in Nepal to go to Maiti on Teej. And women love to go back to the place which was home to her until she was married. You can drop her at Maiti and have a chat with her parents to make her feel that you care for her happiness and freedom. At the same time, this will also show that you respect her parents as much as she does.

8.Express your love vocally

For most women, It is not material gifts that matter the most but your love and emotions. Therefore be a little vocal as sometimes you need to express what you feel about her. Women like that little old-school romance no matter how grown up and practical she appears to be. You can make some hand-made cards and pen down your emotion and slip it under her pillow for her to read on the fast-breaking morning. This will surely put a smile on her face.
